CTE: a towering presence for 30 years
Founded in 1981, CTE immediately sets up its vocation in the production and sale of material removal lifts in particular. An agreement with German company Paus, CTE introduced a revolutionary product to Italy, removal ladders, world leader in this sector. In 1987 CTE signed an exclusive licensing agreement with Genie Industries, the world’s leading producer of self-propelled aerial platforms, for distribution of the brand in Italy.
The decade ended on a high for CTE, with one of the greatest success stories in Italy and Europe for the company: the Pratika material removal lift.
In 1992, with the acquisition of the Pianoplan patent, the company rounded off its fleet of machinery for transporting heavy and awkward loads up stairs and landings. The following year, 1993, saw the launch of Genex: the first company in the world to produce ladders and scaffolds in fiberglass.
The establishment of CTE France in 1994 gave the company its first foothold in Europe outside Italy: this was followed by CTE UK in 2002. In 1997 CTE acquired Sequani Meccanica, a major manufacturer of aerial platforms. Subsequently, the Rivoli Veronese plant near Verona was built, specializing in the production of ladders and aerial platforms. In 2005 the company completed its process of transformation from a commercial concern to an industrial group, with the acquisition of Effer and Bizzocchi, two brands of international standing with 40 years’ know-how and experience. This marked the foundation of one of the largest European groups in the field of lifting and movement of materials and people, with a commercial presence that has spanned all 5 continents since 2006.

Market
The partnership with some of major international brands together with the shareholding of foreigner firms and the take-over of important companies like Effer and Bizzocchi make CTE one of the largest European groups in the field of lifting and removal of materials and people. Thank to its technological know-how, CTE can compete in any market with high-level quality products.
Following the steady growth between years 1995 and 2000, the company implemented a strategy focused on strengthening and increasing its foreign market share. During this period of time CTE laid the foundations for the buy-out of two brands which are well known in the manufacture of truck and marine cranes and truck-mounted aerial platforms at global level.
The group is now made of 8 production plants, 600 employees and its turnover reaches the 120 million euros (2008).
